Elastic has joined forces with leading search platform Swiftype and we are searching for a Technical Writer to be a part of the team. Are you intrigued by how search engines work? Do you love translating complex concepts into simple language? Are you comfortable digging into the code and trying things out to understand what makes the product tick?

Your portfolio demonstrates excellent writing skills, versatility, and the ability to understand and write about complex technologies. You understand how an interface, embedded assistance, and external documentation work together to form a great user experience. You’ve written for a developer audience and have experience with web development technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and edit product guides, tutorials, and API reference material.
  • Write and edit embedded help content in the dashboard as well as external documentation.
  • Work with the Product Team to create user on-boarding content.
  • Review and edit content generated by team members to ensure clarity and consistency across components.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and the rest of the team to deliver the information users need to be successful with our products.  

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 6+ years experience as a technical writer with a focus on web application/API/developer documentation.
  • A clear, concise writing style and the ability to tailor content to specific audiences.
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills.
  • Able to learn new technical concepts quickly.
  • Comfortable shifting between projects and wearing a variety of hats.
  • A track record of successfully working with multi-functional teams to deliver quality content.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with search technology, APIs, web crawling/scraping, and frontend tools (JavaScript/HTML/CSS).
  • Experience building/publishing any type of website.
  • Working knowledge of Git and Github.
